Roster & Lock System
Your roster is your active team in Kaos City. It’s where you decide which characters fight, how you rotate them, and how you manage risk.
This page explains how the roster works and why there is a 48-hour lock when you remove a character.
What is the roster?
The roster is your battle team.
You can have up to 4 characters in your roster at the same time.
You can own many more characters in your collection, but only the ones in the roster can:
fight in battles,
use stamina,
generate KAO.
Think of it like your “starting lineup” in a team game.
Adding characters to the roster
When you add a character to your roster:
It enters the roster with 0 stamina.
From there, it starts to regenerate stamina over time (up to a maximum of 12).
Once it has stamina, you can send it into battles.
This design encourages you to plan ahead and think about:
which characters you want to use today,
which ones you want to rest for later.
Removing characters from the roster (48h lock)
When you remove a character from your roster, it is not immediately free to do everything.
Instead, it becomes locked for 48 hours.
While locked, that character:
❌ cannot be sold on the marketplace,
❌ cannot be added back to the roster,
❌ cannot be healed,
❌ cannot be used for breeding.
After the 48 hours pass, the lock ends automatically and the character can be used normally again.
Why does the lock exist?
The 48-hour lock is there to keep the game fair and stable.
It helps to:
Prevent instant flipping of characters (for example: using them in battles and selling them immediately after).
Reduce abusive strategies where characters are moved in and out of the roster too quickly to exploit short-term advantages.
Encourage real decisions:
“If I put this character in my roster, I’m planning to use it for a while.”
“If I take it out, I won’t be able to touch it for 48 hours.”
In short: the lock pushes players to think in days and weeks, not just in a few minutes.
Simple strategy tips for your roster
A few practical ideas:
Balance your team Mix rarities and roles in your roster so you always have stamina available to spend.
Rotate smartly Don’t remove characters from the roster unless you really need to:
You might want to sell them,
Or use them in a future breeding plan.
Plan around the 48h lock If you know you’ll need a character for breeding soon, avoid removing it from the roster right before that.
The roster & lock system is one of the main ways Kaos City keeps the game fair, strategic and less vulnerable to short-term abuse.
