FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Kaos City in simple words?

Kaos City is a click-to-earn game on the Base network. You buy characters, send them into battles, earn the in-game currency KAO when you win, and you can later convert KAO back to USDC through an on-chain Vault.

2. Do I need crypto to play?

Yes, to play with real value you need:

  • A wallet on the Base network,

  • USDC on Base (to deposit into the Vault),

  • A small amount of ETH on Base (for gas fees).

If you only want to explore the interface (when available), you may be able to use a test or view mode, but real gameplay uses real crypto.

3. Is Kaos City free-to-play?

Kaos City is not a traditional free-to-play game.

To get real characters and earn real KAO, you need to:

  • Deposit USDC,

  • Get KAO inside the game,

  • Buy and open eggs to obtain characters.

There may be future modes or events with lower entry barriers, but the core loop uses real value.

4. Can I lose money in Kaos City?

Yes. You can lose part or all of the money you choose to use in the game.

  • Battles use probabilities, not guarantees.

  • Rarity and progression use RNG (randomness).

  • The value of your position depends on how you play and on other players’ activity.

Kaos City is a high-risk, experimental play-to-earn game, not a guaranteed income source.

5. How do I earn KAO?

You mainly earn KAO by:

  • Sending your characters into battles,

  • Winning against enemies that have different win chances (90%, 70%, 50%, 30%).

Your rewards depend on:

  • The enemy you choose,

  • The result of the battle,

  • Your character’s rarity multiplier.

6. How do I get stronger characters?

There are two main ways:

  1. Eggs – Buy and open eggs using KAO. When you open them, they reveal a character with a random rarity (1–6).

  2. Breeding – Combine 3 characters of the same rarity and pay a breeding fee in KAO to receive 1 character of the next rarity tier, 100% guaranteed.

Rarity affects the potential KAO rewards your character can generate in battles.

7. What is the 48-hour lock and why does it exist?

When you remove a character from your roster, it becomes locked for 48 hours.

While locked, that character:

  • cannot be sold,

  • cannot be added back to the roster,

  • cannot be healed,

  • cannot be used for breeding.

This helps keep the game fair and reduces instant flipping or abusive strategies.

8. How do I get my money back out?

To exit or take profit:

  1. Convert your in-game KAO → USDC using the Vault.

  2. The Vault applies a 3% fee on the USDC you withdraw.

  3. The remaining 97% goes back to your wallet as USDC on Base.

Example: if you withdraw 5 USDC, you receive 4.85 USDC; 0.15 USDC stays with the platform.

9. Is this financial or investment advice?

No.

Nothing in Kaos City, the whitepaper, the app, or our communications is financial, legal or tax advice. You should always do your own research and, if needed, consult a professional advisor.

For more details, read the “Disclaimer & Risk Notice” page.

10. Can the rules or numbers change in the future?

Yes.

To keep the game healthy over time, the team may adjust:

  • reward rates,

  • sink costs,

  • enemy types and win probabilities,

  • breeding fees and parameters.

Any change will be made with the goal of protecting the long-term sustainability of the game, not guaranteeing fixed returns.

Glossary – Key Terms

Base An Ethereum Layer 2 network where Kaos City is deployed. Your wallet, USDC and Vault interactions happen on Base.

USDC on Base A stablecoin (pegged to the US dollar) used to enter and exit Kaos City. It is the only token accepted by the Kaos City Vault.

KAO The in-game currency of Kaos City. You earn KAO in battles and spend it on eggs, openings, healing and breeding. Some actions burn KAO permanently.

Vault The on-chain contract that connects your wallet balance and the game. You deposit USDC into the Vault and withdraw USDC when you convert KAO back out of the game. A 3% fee applies on withdrawals.

Egg An item you buy with KAO. When you open an egg (paying a small KAO fee), it reveals a character with a random rarity.

Character Your playable unit in Kaos City. Each character has:

  • a rarity (1–6),

  • stamina (how often it can fight),

  • health (how much damage it can take).

Characters are your main asset in the game.

Rarity A tier from 1 to 6 that shows how strong and valuable a character is. Higher rarity means:

  • higher earning potential,

  • usually better progression and stats,

  • lower drop chances from eggs.

Stamina A resource that limits how often a character can fight.

  • Max stamina: 12.

  • Each battle consumes 3 stamina.

  • Stamina regenerates over time until it reaches the cap again.

Health (HP) Your character’s durability.

  • Losing a battle costs 10 HP.

  • Winning a battle does not reduce HP.

  • You can heal characters by spending KAO (which is burned).

Roster Your active team of up to 4 characters that can fight and generate KAO. Characters outside the roster can’t battle.

Lock / Locked Character A character that has been removed from the roster and is frozen for 48 hours. While locked, it cannot be sold, healed, bred or added back to the roster.

Breeding The process of combining 3 characters of the same rarity and paying a KAO fee to create 1 new character of the next rarity tier. All breeding fees are burned.

Burn / Burned KAO When KAO is permanently removed from circulation. Actions like buying eggs, opening eggs, healing and breeding burn KAO as part of the economic design.
